What Can I Expect on the Day of My Tummy Tuck Surgery?

Also serving patients in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Newport Beach, and Northern California, as well as nationally and internationally.

Abdominoplasty, also commonly referred to as a tummy tuck, is a popular surgical procedure that can potentially improve the appearance of your abdomen. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and fat, while usually tightening loose, separated muscles.

Dr. Jay Orringer is a double-board certified plastic surgeon who has been helping patients achieve their cosmetic goals for 30 years. He believes that having some understanding of what to expect often helps a patient feel less anxious and better prepared.

Your Tummy Tuck Procedure

Tummy tuck surgery at the Renaissance Medical Center for Aesthetic Surgery, IncYou will be told ahead of time when and where to arrive for your procedure. Dr. Orringer usually performs his tummy tuck procedures at Summit Surgical Center. This accredited surgical facility is located across the street from Dr. Orringer’s Renaissance Medical Center for Aesthetic Surgery, Inc. in Beverly Hills, California.

Dr. Orringer is dedicated to providing a personalized, caring, and individualized experience. Tummy tucks are performed under general anesthesia, although Dr. Orringer typically also places a long-acting local anesthetic as well that might decrease pain for up to 72 hours, as you heal. For your safety, you will be closely monitored during your surgery by an anesthesiologist who is a medical doctor.

Your tummy tuck procedure may involve:

  • A full tummy tuck
  • A mini tummy tuck

During your consultation, and at your pre-operative visit, Dr. Orringer will listen to your concerns and goals and create with you an individualized surgical plan.

After Your Abdominoplasty Surgery

The night of your surgery, you will be cared for at Serenity Aftercare, a unique facility that allows patients to recover in luxury hotel-like accommodations, while receiving skilled nursing care.

Dr. Orringer believes that early ambulation facilitates recovery, and you will be encouraged to walk, with assistance, as early as the night of surgery. Frequent deep breathing early in the recovery process is also encouraged. Dr. Orringer will oversee your return to exercise according to the pace of your progress.
